Ever just WISH?

Do you ever (if you're not pro already) ..when you watch a pro dancer...that you could just DO that? They really do make it look so effortless and I am so obssessed by Ballet it's crazy. When I stop practising...I will STILL go to ballets and take pics. I have a HUGE scrap book of pics I've cut out of "Pointe" magazine and others..as well as the interenet. I can't get enough of ballet.

    actually what I wish...
is that I knew a dancer...and that I had a pair of her pointe shoes hanging in my office at home..to remind me of her. And in lieu of that a nice poster of Makarova wouldnt be bad either. I had a crush on her when I was a kid. A shop near Lincoln Center that catered to the performing arts crowd had one in their window. I saw her and my lil prepubescent hormones went WOW!~

Hee Hee hee! Oh definitely! Makarova..... what a fine dancer! Didn't she do The Firebird? I'm sure you know you can buy pointe shoes to hang after any ballet performance. Maybe you can find some without signitures if you don't like that. They usually run about 10.00 a pair all wrapped up in tinted plastic wrap. Just spray some Listerene on them and that will kill any leftover ...ya know...germ guys! :)

This is unless, of course, you prefer Makarova's shoes only! Wow..that would be something else!

.....at any ballet performance. Usually they have a basket in the lobby before, intermission, and after the show to buy. That's if they have a display booth set up for people to buy souvieniers (forgive my spelling). I have quite a few pairs from several of the Oregon Ballet dancers. I love them and they are hanging up. Just dont' ever put your feet in them even with socks......I'm telling ya...You'll get athletes' feet! IT's because they were worn out along with old sweat. I know, it sounds grose... But that makes it worse and easier to catch Athlete's Foot. Even if you wear socks! It's neet to see how your foot compares to theirs though. hee hee hee
SOME OF THEM i CANNOT SEE HOW IN THE DANG HECK THEY COULD HAVE EVER WORN THEM!!!!

    Boy - yeah! - I get that a lot.

I fractured my neck only about three months after I turned pro.

I'm doing a dancers' rehab programme, and I'm dancing again (nowhere near the same level) but you do get that feeling sometimes.

I just try to ignore it and enjoy. But it is hard sometimes isn't it!

IT IS!!! I understand. I got to be very good at 18 and a lot of people had high hopes for me....until i really hurt my lower back (dancing). I know how you feel. It's very very frustrating to never be able to get to that same greatness again. Each time it hurts in an arabesque i want to scream....patience, time, dedication. You'll be ok. Your body will get strong again. Just don't give up....or get pregnant. My hips are screwed! lol!
It's still fun though since now i'm 8 years older, an my daughter comes to class and watches from the sidelines. She is inspired by watching. I am happy i have found the drive to keep on dancing! I'll never stop as long as i have the say.

At least you guys got hurt doing what you love. I was in a car accident (some crazy lady rearended me going veeeery fast), and my neck & back haven't been the same sense. It made *all* my muscles tense, so I've had to work extra hard at being able to do the straddle splits and everything again. Sooo frustrating. I hope you all recover!
