What kinds do you have? ..or did have? Or like? You don't exactly HAVE to have a pair to appreciate the looks of them or just simply KNOW of ones that are good.

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 3:10 AMi know that Gaynor Minden shoes are really good, I have not danced with them but I hear that they are the best because you can really get a custom fitting with them a lot better than other shoes. I wish so bad that I could dance like that. I don't know if it is too late to aspire to it, I have danced on and off throughout my life. I guess I gotta get started again somehow! -

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 7:05 AMI've heard the same, but have never owned a pair.
Good quality at a reasonable price.
They will outlast other brands 3/4 x's.
I've owned Capezio...i really need to invest in better shoes.

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 1:21 PMMy very first pointes were Capezio Nicolinis. They never seemed to bother me and I loved them (still have two worn out pairs). As an adult I own a pair of Grishko Fouettes that were recommended by my teacher (they look great on my feet but I don't like how they feel) and Sansha Recitals in canvas, which I love and are cheap. The Sansha 202 shanks are a little soft for me so I got some 303s which are basically the same but with a stronger shank. -

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 7:11 PMI need a tougher shank. I've always liked the Russian style vamp but I'd have to say that the old "Bayrishnikovs" are still my favorite!
Other than those..I like the Sansha since they make ones that are good for my extremely boney feet. I have tapered toes. I have short, fat toes and they make a shoe PERFECT for those but I'm not in Pointe shoes right now.
Gaynor Maydon (sp?) is supposed to be the best though from what I heard. -

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 7:19 PMYeah, Gaynor Mindens are the *athletic shoe* of the pointe world. I have a pair but they don't quite fit (just a tad too big). I'd be willing to sell them but I have to check and see what the exact size is.

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Sat, February 7, 2004 - 2:38 PMNot quite sure yet...but I can give you the size: 6.5 M, #3 - #121 - #21, so it's a slightly tapered box, extraflex shank with a deep vamp. Don't know what the heel height is, but it's too low for me.
You can find more info on their website:
www.gaynorminden.com/
I also have Bloch Sonatas in 2.5 D and Cecelia Kerche for Leo's in 3.5 E if anyone's interested. :) -

Re: What type of Pointe shoes?
Sat, February 7, 2004 - 4:02 PMokay...so do all those numbers pertain to the size or measurement of the various parts of the shoe? are they built so spec based on the dancers needs or do they offer a range of component sizes in each component?

Sat, February 7, 2004 - 5:11 PMawwwwww, Well, If I were there I would. I would drop you though. I only weigh 113. hee hee
...as for those pointe shoes....They would be too small for me but they sound good. Maybe someone will want to buy them to hang them on their wall. I always liked pointe shoes hanging from my wall. -
